2007 - 45th Reunion:

FAMILY INFORMATION:

The Hannas are alive and well in Boone, Iowa. Our family has grown to include 3 adult children, 8 grandchildren, and an extended family in Australia.

Dana, our older daughter, lives in Urbandale with her husband, Brian Kramer and 2 sons, Kyle, who just completed his freshman year at ISU, and Derek, a sophomore at Urbandale H.S. Dana is an Assistant Vice President at Marsh Voluntary Benefits in West Des Moines. She is a marathon runner, and in 2006 was the first Iowa female to finish the Boston Marathon. Dana is a registered high school soccer official with the State of Iowa, and has a full schedule this spring.

Our son Mike lives in Indianola with his wife Tracie and their 2 children, Zach, 12 & Britnie, who turned 9 on Grandpa Hanna’s birthday. His older daughter, Madison, graduates from Van Meter High School this month. Madi plans to attend college in Illinois to study Japanese, and at 6’3” will also play a little basketball. Mike is a corporate trainer at EMC Insurance in Des Moines. He is the proud owner of a new Harley, and he and Tracie plan to “hawg” to Sturgis, SD, in August for the festivities. (eek!) Mike is also a registered sports official with the Iowa High School Athletic Association, working football and basketball.

Our younger daughter Julee lives in Brookfield, MO, with her husband Chuck Reese and their 3 daughters, Katee, 13, Jenna, 11 and Charlee, 3. Julee is a high school English/history teacher, and sponsors the Young Democrats group – a minority in that part of the country! Julee is also a marathon runner, and qualified for the Boston Marathon in 2006. She and Dana are training for the San Diego Marathon on June 3.

Our extended family in Australia includes Meryn & Cameron Rees. Meryn was an exchange student who stayed with us way back when. Dave, Dana & I traveled to Australia for their wedding, and have since become surrogate grandparents to their three children, Mitchell, Hamish & Elyssa. After we retire we’re going back!

WHATEVER YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING IN YOUR LIFE:

I am still with ISU – working as an administrative specialist in the department of veterinary pathology at the veterinary college. I have started a machine quilting business in our home, just in case I get bored when I retire….which may be a while, because I have a quilting habit to support! After 40 years with the same employer, Dave was “downsized” when his company was bought by an outfit from NY. Now he also commutes to Ames, and so far it’s working out. He has been a registered sports official with the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Association for over 30 years, working mostly football, basketball and softball. He and Mike work on the same football crew, enjoying the bonding time.

Dad passed away in 2000, after a 2-year battle with prostate cancer. Mom lived alone in the family “homestead”, mowing 2 acres & shoveling snow until August 2006, when she went to live with my sister Barb in Monroe, IA. Now we’re sorting through 60 years of memories and getting ready to sell the place, hopefully this spring.

2002 - 40th Reunion:

Family Information

Dave (husband of 40 years in February)

Daughter: Dana Hanna Kramer (Brian): 2 sons Kyle and Derek.

Son: Mike Hanna (Tracie): Madison, Zachary and Britnie.

Daughter: Julee Hanna Booth: Katee and Jenna.

Work/Retirement History

Still working (sigh) – 22 years at Iowa State University. Am eligible for early retirement, which allows me to have an “attitude”, but probably won’t retire before July 2004.

Life’s Highlights

Celebrated 40th wedding anniversary in February 2002… and we still like each other!!!

Not a hilite, but an important event: Dave and I both lost our fathers within 8 days of each other in October 2000. The saddest part of our lives so far.

Another “Lo-Light” – in January 2001 I slipped on the ice at work, fell and broke an ankle. Amazing how something that lasted 6 weeks when I was 30 can last forever when I’m 57. Had surgery to insert 3 screws in the ankle and am still hobbling around! One benefit is all the good parking spaces when I go shopping.

What ever happened to?         The Little Stinkers!

Idea!!

I’m a quilter – thought it would be fun to do up a memory quilt for class members to sign – it could be raffled to help defray costs of mailing, or just given away in a drawing. Any other quilters in the bunch?

Life has been good with lots of family celebrations, extensive travel, great circle of friends and good health.

1997 - 35th Reunion:

I'm still married to my high school sweetheart, Dave. We have three kids: Dana Kramer, who is a marathon runner (missed qualifying for Olympic trials last summer by 3 minutes!) Lives in Urbandale with her husband Brian and two sons, Kyle (9) and Derek (6); our son Mike works in corporate relations and corporate training at american republic in des moines---he's married to tracie, and they have zachary (2) and madison (8); our younger daughter julee booth is a high school english and history teacher in brookfield, missouri. She and her husband eric have 2 young daughters --- katee (3) and jenna (1). We also have an extended family which includes two young people who stayed with us as foreign exchange students. Meryn rees lives in melbourne, australia, with her husband cameron and their 1-year-old son mitchell. Dave, dana and i made the trip "down under in 1993 for meryn's wedding. Maurizio anselma lives near milan, italy. We haven't been to visit him yet, but it's in the plans as soon as I can talk Dave into going with me. Dave would go back to Australia in a minute, but is a little wary about traveling to a place where he can't understand what the people are saying.

I've worked at Iowa State University for 17 years --- am currently in the department of Veterinary Pathology in the college of Veterinary Medicine. Although I have taken some college courses (including a year of Italian in preparation for the (?) Trip to Italy), I still haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up. My intersts are varied. Most of all, i like to play with my grandchildren. Dave and i spent many years watching our kids play sports, and really missed it after julee graduated from college and we didn't have any more kids to watch -- now our older grandsons are beginning to play soccer (love it!) And we're happy to follow them from game to game cheering like idiots. I also read a lot, sew, and have taken a few classes on quilting.
