Work/Retirement History

I retired from the US Postal Service in 1992 and formed my own company – JKW Computer Enterprises, Inc. I have been working since retirement so I don’t know if I like being retired or not.

Life’s Highlights

I have been very fortunate to have fairly good health and loving, caring children and grandchildren.

My father passed away February 3, 2002 from complications following open-heart surgery on December 21, 2001. My mother is unable to care fully for herself, so we had to find a ‘assisted living’ facility for her to stay. I have been in Ankeny a lot since dad’s surgery to help with the many activities that need to be completed. My dad seemed to have kept everything so it is quit a chore to get things ready for an auction.

A special thank you to the Reunion Committee Members who have stepped in to plan and organize this reunion (Ken Jarvis and I originally committed to do that task).

1997 - 35th Reunion:

Spouse; Connie

Children; Jeffrey, 33, Kimberlee, 29, Jennifer, 27, and Kristofer, 17.

Grandchildren; Blake Michael, 11, Colby Keith, 8, and Raina Kelia, 6 months.

I retired from the US Postal Service in 1992 after 27 years as part of the corporate downsizing that seemed to be the fad at the time, or at least politically correct. I started a computer consulting, training and custom programming company, JKW Computer Enterprises, Inc. A few months before I retired. Most of my time is spent doing custom programming. My four children serve as Vice Presidents for JKW Computer Enterprises, inc.

Connie is now an attorney in private practice. She seems to have a disproportionate workload to revenue ratio; unfortunately, with the hours far exceeding the dollars. In jest, I tell her to stop practicing and do it for real. This media does not permit me to share with you her response.

Jeffrey, his wife Crystal, and their two sons, Blake and Colby, live in Nebraska. Jeffrey recently graduated with honors from Bellevue University. Jeffrey runs the Midwest operations for JKW from his home office. Crystal works for an accounting firm in Nebraska. Blake and Colby spend their time in school, playing sports and surfing the World Wide Web. They both have their own home page that their father helps them maintain.

Kimberlee, a graduate of the University of Iowa, lives in Nebraska, and is a computer programmer currently under contract with a large national firm. Hopefully when she completes her current contract, she will come to work full time for JKW.

Jennifer, a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City, her husband Cliff, and their daughter, Raina Kelia, live in Tennessee. Cliff is a Copywriter for a local ad agency. Jennifer has been working for JKW since January of this year. Her job acitivities include web page design and development in addition to helping me with office administration. In addition, she designs and produces metal ornaments as part of her desire to pursue metalsmithing as a freelancer.

Kristofer is a junior at Lausanne Collegiate School in Tennessee. He is involved in a number of activcities at school, but probably most enjoys playing goal keeper for the soccer team. He also works after school and on weekends at a moveie theater and does some programming work for JKW. After high school, he wants to pursue the actuarial science field, but has not yet decided which college or university he would like to attend.
