Work/Retirement History

I retired from Salem-Keizer school district in 1998. I taught elementary vocal music for 31 years and loved it, but am extremely glad to be done with that phase of my life. I still fill in as an organist at our church when there is a need and accompany a choir at an elementary school.

Life’s Highlights

After I retired, we bought a motor home and have spent a lot of time traveling the US. We have gone to Hawaii and Mexico in the winters, but are planning to try Arizona this winter. Our golden retriever, Murphy, plays a large part in our lives and is a joy to have around. I have become an avid quilter and spend way too much time at the sewing machine. Our church quilters send 40 quilts a year to Lutheran World Relief.

My husband Jan is a very committed Master Gardener. Each summer he volunteers at the County Garden working with children of the court system, so he isn’t around much in June, July & August. He promises this will be his last year, so we can do more traveling.

1997 - 35th Reunion:

My husband retired five years ago. We have 4 grandchildren: one in Oregon, two in Los Vegas and one in North Carolina. All our children are now married. The last two were married in 1995. Murphy, our golden retriever puppy, has become a large focus in our life. We enjoy working with her and may do obedience trials when she is older.

This is my 30th year of teaching music. 27 years in the Salem/Keizer School District. I'm planning to retire in 2000.
